ot? Machine out stuck trumpet valves?

Just had a guy come to me with a unique challenge. Machine out stuck valves on an antique trumpet. He said he had taken it to a couple of insturment repair places to no avail. I told him to bring it by simply because I'd never worked on a musical insturment.
Anyone have experience with this?

Guys, I have a problem

I need to make a replacement insulator between the lower head and the lower arm on my Brother.

Before anyone asks, I do have a perfect ceramic OEM part to use, but I will not attempt to put it on.

Molybdenum EDM Wire

I going to try to do some .006" slots on 2" thick 304SS with .004" wire. The regular brass wire is not going to be able to do it on my old Brother HS-300. Book for the machine says it can only do about .75" thickness with .004" wire.

Does anyone have experience with Molybdenum wire. It is much stronger right? Do you think it would work for me?

Mitsubishi DWC 200H Make me an offer

We are getting a new makino tomorrow and need to get rid of our mitsubishi. It still runs but is very slow on thick parts, like .500" and thicker.

I will unhook the electrics but you need to pay for the rigging.

I just need to make space for other stuff. It has an older control on it so no used dealers will mess with it.

Hole Popper question

Have to re-pop a part to increase air flow. Hole diameter currently measures .027-.030. Need to open up 400 holes(2.6 deep, through holes) to .033 diameter.
Problem I am having is getting hole size to increase consistently from top to bottom.
I first tried original electrode (.0275 dia), hole size doesn't change. Then I tried larger electrode .0315 dia, it keeps bouncing and bending until hole size at the top is huge(.045) without ever making it through the part.
I think the main problem is not getting any flush back out of hole, because it is through already. So I tried to increase "capacitor" and "on time" while reducing "servo" and "off time". Then I managed to get through hole but it still burns .045 at top and .033 at breakout.
I don't see an easy way to seal bottom of holes back up to restore flush. Anybody deal with this problem before?

Ghost Machine?

I know the situation varies from machine to machine, and operator to operator. I'm running a fairly new Mits MV2400S. (<11 months old) When I came in to work this morning, the machine was servo'd out and was asking me to Ref. Return Y. There were no obstructions in the tank that would be in contact with the lower head. And the upper head was also clear of any obstructions. After referencing Y, and checking that my pick up was still good, I noticed that the wire had gone off path and cut into the work piece. The piece I'm currently cutting is the 4th of 5. So I've ran 3 before this one with absolutely no problems. Nothing has changed, besides the piece to be cut. I understand that without running the machine for yourself, you'd have no way of identifying the problem. But has anyone had an issue like this? I'm rather baffled as to how this could happen?... I'll be sending my findings to Mits in a few minutes. Please advise.

Cutting knife methods

Guys-

We often recut/resharpen knives which vary from 2-4" tall, and from .500-.750 wide. They vary only from different part numbers, meaning when a part number comes in for resharp, they will be all the same size. At times we can cut up to 100-200 of these.

My current method is to hold these parts in a vise on the table, and I cut 1, and reinsert the next and cut again. Works pretty well except I have to be around the machine every 20-30 min (depending on the part) to change the part out. Doesn't make for me being very productive in other areas. Is this how you guys would approach the job?
