Like the title say, I want a small one to put in the rear window of my truck. There has been a lot of road rage lately, and I want a witness if one of these nuts tries to ram or shoot my vehicle.

My wife leaves for work early in the morning, I worry about her.
They usually run up from behind.

Victor lathes any good

Square a lathe bed - 2 collar test question

I moved my lathe. Prior to reading here about checking for the bed being square using the two collar test I used a Machinist level. After reading here it makes much more sense to use the two collar test. No tailstock and a chunk of round stock and cut accordingly. My problem is I don't have a piece of material that is a large diameter. Would a piece of heavy wall pipe suffice for this operation?

Unusual Wear on a Boring Bar

Have you ever seen this kind of wear?

It's a 3/4" carbide shank, with a brazed-on steel head.

The bar has not been used much (compared to the one it replaced). The old bar had been used for 5x as long as this one, showed no signs of this kind of wear, then got crashed.
